Miss Sugarpuss is the alter-ego of Holly Gauthier-Frankel, a local actor, singer, dancer, writer, producer and impressario of all things musical, theatrical and artistic. Being raised in a family of musicians and performers, studying English Literature, and flouting all sense of social decency and propriety also helped Miss Holly in her pursuit of a life of starving artisthood and exhibitionism, and she can be found working her butt off, usually writing various screenplays, stage plays and songs, or working as a voice actor and singer on well-known cartoons such as Arthur, What’s With Andy or Monster Allergy. She was recently named 5th Best Actress in the Montreal Mirror’s 2007 Best of Montreal Reader’s Poll, and was nominated for the 2007 ACTRA Awards for Best Voice Performance. Miss Sugarpuss was recently named 10th Most Desirable Woman in Montreal, and Holly also made the cut, being named 4th Best Actress in the Montreal Mirror's 2008 Best of Montreal Reader's Poll. Holly was also nominated for the 2008 ACTRA Awards for Best Voice Performance, her second nomination. Born in 2004, as the result of a volatile combination of vodka and black-tasseled pasties at a raucous gathering of musical theatre actors, the sultry Miss Sugarpuss burst forth to found the now dormant Sugarpuss Burlesque Troupe, and brought sass and shimmying goodness to Montreal’s 2005 Fringe Fest with the runaway hit, ‘Miss Sugarpuss and Her Burley-Q Revue!!!’ Miss S now spends most of her time perfecting her moves, researching archival footage, sewing costumes, strutting her stuff on various cabaret shows such as Diary of a Lost Circus, Kiss My Cabaret or the WAWA Show, and generally makes a ruckus wherever she goes. Her diligence over the years has more than paid off, however, and she has established herself as one of Montreal’s most hard-working and charming ecdysiasts! But don’t be fooled by Miss Sugarpuss’ girlish charm. The gleam in her eye and the shimmer of her pasties is enough to send anyone reeling, and once you experience the sweetness of Miss Sugarpuss in person you’ll never be the same!
